If there is one thing I have learned through out my journey as a caregiver is that you CANNOT do it alone. Whether you have the support of family and friends in the area, or like me have virtual friends through blogs, forums, or other online means, it is important to have somewhere you can go where you feel safe to talk about the things that we go through on a daily basis. It is NOT healthy for any of us to keep it all in, I had to learn that the hard way a few times! If you are a caregiver looking for some place that you can go, here is a GREAT resource.
Caregiver Village is an awesome new place for families who care for loved ones with ADD/ADHD, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, autism, cancer, depression, diabetes, general aging, general caregiving needs, heart disease, mental and developmental delays, mental/emotional illness, Parkinson’s, physical disabilities, stroke, surgery, injury or wounds, and war-related injuries.
At Caregiver Village, you have an opportunity to play games, participate in book clubs, and even earn points and achievements for participating. They also offer something that has helped me tremendously through all this, and that is the opportunity to journal, and read the journals of those like you! I honestly do not know where I would be if I had not began writing when things got really bad. Another great thing about
Caregiver Village? They even vow to help other groups along the way!
One of my absolute favorite Organizations
familyofavet.com-PTSD, TBI, and Life After Combat , has partnered with Caregiver Village, and now when you join Caregiver Village and mention Family Of a Veteran, they will give then $1 to support helping veterans and their families learn how to cope with PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), TBI (traumatic brain injury) and life after combat!
You can post the badge featured in this photo to your website by using this code:

Or, if you'd just like to refer people to the site (and please, pretty please give FOV credit so that we get the $1.00 donation as one of their partner 501(c)3 non-profit orgs), you can use this link:

I just want to say thank you so much for sharing this! My mother takes care of our grandfather who has alzhiemers and I'm sure she would love this site. I am going to pass it along to her. I know it can be trying and hard when caring for someone, especially if it is family. You're amazing.
Thank you Charity! I hoped this would help someone! :)
